Wes Okafor, Owner
I started this location in 2016 after watching too many insulation jobs in Orange County get done backward. Crews blowing fiberglass over unsealed top plates, skipping can-light enclosures, leaving attic hatches rattling loose. The homeowner got a thicker attic but the same drafty rooms. Under The Haven Standard, we don’t start any job without a written price, a written scope, and a written warranty. That’s Haven Standard Clause 1, and it’s non-negotiable.
I’m still on-site most weeks, usually running the blower-door test myself. I like seeing the numbers. A typical Buena Park ranch built in the 1960s reads 4,500 CFM50 before we start. After we seal top plates, pipe penetrations, and that gap around the chimney chase, we’re usually under 2,500. That’s not a feeling. That’s a pressurization reading that shows, in one number, how much conditioned air your building envelope was losing. I hand that sheet to the homeowner along with the before-and-after photos. Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been crawling through attics in north Orange County for fourteen years, the last six with us in Buena Park. He holds a BPI Building Analyst certification and specializes in the tricky retrofit work you find in the older neighborhoods off Beach Boulevard and La Palma Avenue. Dana K., Senior Installer
Dana came to us from commercial HVAC in 2019 and took to residential building envelope work faster than anyone I’ve trained. She’s our spray foam specialist, certified in both open-cell and closed-cell application by Icynene and Demilec. That matters in Buena Park because the climate here sits in a weird middle zone. Summers hit the mid-90s, winters dip to the high 40s, and the marine layer rolls in just enough to keep humidity moderate but unpredictable. Dana knows when to spec 2-pound closed-cell for a rim joist in a crawl space versus half-pound open-cell for an attic roof deck.
She also runs quality control on our blown-in jobs. We’ve all seen it: a crew blows cellulose to a uniform depth everywhere except the eaves, where it tapers to nothing because nobody wanted to work on their belly with a hose. Dana checks every corner with a depth gauge. She once made a crew pull back and redo forty feet of eave in a home near the Buena Park Mall because the depth was half an inch shy of the spec. The homeowner never would have known. Dana knew.
She lives in Cypress, coaches a U-14 girls’ soccer team, and has strong opinions about the parking situation at Knott’s Berry Farm.
Rico V., Service Coordinator

Rico, sitting at his desk in our Buena Park office, with a monitor showing the crew locations and a filing cabinet full of every written scope we’ve delivered since 2019. He’s the one who schedules your appointment, texts you when the technician is en route, and makes sure your written price lands in your inbox before anyone lifts a tool.

Jin S., Apprentice Installer
Jin joined us in 2023 after two years in general construction. He’s working through his BPI certification now, studying for the written exam between jobs. In the meantime, he handles prep work, material staging, and the physical labor that keeps the senior installers moving fast. He’s the one hauling bales of GreenFiber cellulose up the attic ladder, setting up the blower door for Marcus, and learning to spot the details that separate a decent job from a Haven Standard job.
Last month in a home near Gilbert Street, Jin noticed a bathroom exhaust fan that was dumping moist air directly into the attic. The homeowner’s previous contractor had missed it. Jin flagged it to Dana, who added proper ducting to the exterior as part of the air-sealing scope. That’s the kind of eye we’re training. Jin’s not ready to run his own blower-door test yet, but he’s getting there.
He commutes from Fullerton, plays bass in a band you’ve never heard of, and brings surprisingly good coffee to the job site.
